The Abortion Issue and the Church

"You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye". Matthew 7:5

Resounding words from our Lord. Abortion has be the subject that has been scrutinized, talked about and virtually exhausted by the church, as it should and a truth that we must ALL face, in focusing the issue of the horrors of such an act. The issue of abortion is not a medical one, or a scientific assessment, or social, it is a moral one. The question that needs to be asked is; what would an all loving God who is the creator and giver of ALL life, think about intentionally ending a life that He has created and has foreordained.

I know that this is going to be a very controversial message and others will line up to condemn, rebuke... for what I'm about to say here. But let the truth be told, "Let God be found true, though every man be found a liar". Romans 3:4

One of the most troublesome and tragic things that has happened within the church, is the notion that her hands are clean and has focused and pointed fingers at the "world" organizations, government... and everyone else, for the holocaust of abortion. If we (the church) are to be the preservers, protectors and messengers of that truth, then that same truth must be applied to ourselves as well. If this truth is "Living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart and no creature is hidden from His sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account", why and how can these things be happening within our own houses of worship? And how is it that the church is not willing to recognize the problems within her four walls? Is the message being compromised by her leaders, or is the truth in the word of God, being proclaimed by the power of the Holy Spirit? If it's the latter, then why are the statistics staggering and overwhelming against the followers of Christ, "christians”... who are to obey in ALL things. As soon as the subject of abortion within the church is brought forth, to the church's doors, windows are shut and everyone goes inside as if the plague of death was heading her way. And this could be one of the many reasons as to why she feels the way she does.

Overall abortions in this country, 78 percent of women said they had a religious affiliation. 78%!!! Out of all those, the breakdown is more Protestant women obtained abortions than Catholics: Forty-three percent of women survey said they were Protestant, while 27 percent said they were Catholic. While 13% of abortions (approx.. 170,000 per year) are performed on self-described "Born Again" or Evangelical Christians. Even more disturbing is the fact that these percentages Have NOT dropped, even thought the number of abortions have in recent years!
As someone was quoted as saying; If abortion is the fruit of a Christian woman's choice, then what is the root system that feeds it”?
I believe our children are introduced to hypocrisy at an early age--an inconsistency observed between what our faith requires and how parents, church leaders, and Christian authority figures live out its principles”.
What a sad commentary, stigma and accusations, to be directed to the bride of Christ, His church!

The church has decided to keep a blind eye as to the abortion problem within her ranks, in order to continue with a so called fight against the "world's" problem of abortion, for the fear of being exposed herself. If we as members of the church are going to preach to the world regarding truth, then we must also preach that truth to ourselves. It is very hypocritical to point the finger at the world, unbelievers... and not be held responsible for our own actions. We are quick to preach, post... regarding the judgement of the world, if we don't “go back to its roots of a christian nation”, but at the same time we don't take our own plank out of our eye, and do not adhere to those truths. We are quick to judge others, when we are the ones that are doing the majority of the harm to innocent lives and the horrors are to be proclaimed throughout ALL of our houses of worship.

If that is not being done in honesty, then we are the ones going to be held responsible for not obeying God and His truths, that He has given us to guard, protect... a message NOT of a lukewarm, itching ears, kind of message, where the Lord will spew us out of His mouth, as if He never knew us. Judgement must first come to the house of God, before we can proclaim any truth that would have an impact to its listeners.
"For it is time for judgment to begin at the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God? 1 Peter 4:17
And then we wonder as to the proclamations made by the world regarding the church and her truths? But we are to be quick, in blaming the Devil, the spirit of the antichrist, sin, organizations, the world... and well we should, but not in all things. We really need to look at ourselves in the mirror and take full responsibility as messengers of truth.

Maybe the reason that the church is not as effective as it should be regarding abortion and its message, is because of the fear of having those skeletons in her closet discovered, so the message is not as effective as it should? I don’t know, maybe. But one thing is for sure, that if we do not fall on our faces in the presence of a living God and ask for forgiveness, the power of God, the healing of our land... will not move forward as an extension of His church, no matter what message, we are trying to proclaim or convey to the world around us.

"if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, THEN I WILL HEAR from heaven and WILL FORGIVE their sin and WILL  HEAL their land". 2 Chronicles 7:14

It is NOT the world that God is asking to humble, pray, seek and turn from their evil ways... as they cannot do those things. He (God) is asking those called "MY PEOPLE" to confess, repent... and only then will He hear, forgive, heal... as the church will go back to what she was meant to be, in power, rooted in her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
